Robbery at Gun Point

All,

Unfortunately, there has been a robbery, at gun point, in our complex.  A resident's girlfriend was coming to visit him this weekend. She drove in and parked next to a truck with a man standing at the end of the truck. When she got out of her car with her young daughter, the man confronted her with a gun and proceeded to rob and take her car.

No one was physically hurt.

Tish has called the police and learned the truck and plates are stolen.  She is having the police come and remove the truck. She hope's they can gather fingerprints from the truck's interior.

Please remember to be aware of your surroundings. If you don't feel comfortable and you see someone standing around, don't park next to them.  Make sure your doors are locked and keep driving out of the complex. Consider, calling the police and waiting for them before going back in.

  1. Pherhaps we can invest more time and money into maintaining the enterance gate. I came home an hour after this incident and the gate was stuck part-way open. I understand that it is not a security gate, but a closed gate may have prevented this attack.

  2. After a week, the truck is still parked in the lot. Can someone follow up with the police so they can process the vehicle, get it back to its owner and possibly catch this guy?

  3. Is it the two toned brown truck with the windows down? It is still there. When will it be removed? Can't we just call for a tow?

  5. Is it possible for us to get a description of this man so we may be able to spot him in the future?

I'd like to echo Jennifer's comment. The gates are partly to blame for this. Broken and/or open gates are an obvious invitation to intruders. We cannot prevent every crime, but we should at least exhaust the most obvious deterrent.

  6. Is there contact information for the HOA? An office? I've had trouble reaching a person, other than Tish that can address more of these issues. I feel very distant from this community, when is the next HOA Meeting?
